We made our first significant move today trading
Nazem Kadri and
Victor Hedman to the New Jersey Devils for
Phil Kessel and
Roman Polak. The thinking behind this trade was to bring in a scoring right winger which has proven very difficult. It seems there is a shortage of quality right wingers in the league and those that have them have shown no desire to move them. The recent aquisition of
Scott Hannan brought some veteran presence as well the depth needed to allow Hedman to move out. Bringing Polak in didn't hurt the cause either. Kadri became expendable when
Frans Nielsen was brought in via free agency. So far I am happy with the moves made. Being last in the Eastern Conference made no one safe on this roster. There are a few more moves to be made. Hopefully enough of a change to challenge for a playoff spot.
